In unserer heutigen Ausgabe:  Ken Murphy – Director bei CareerWise recruitment (Irland)

Dear Ken, would you please present yourself and your company!

My name is Ken Murphy and I am a director and part owner of CareerWise Recruitment based in Ireland.

CareerWise Recruitment was established in 1999 in Ireland and now has five offices across the country. We specialise in management and technical professional recruitment for the life sciences, engineering, electronics and food sectors. We also have a significant contractor sourcing and outsourcing business supporting multinational clients. We have a strong team of experienced consultants with good market knowledge and work on recruitment solutions in partnership with our Irish and international clients.

Why and when did you join INRALS?

CareerWise was asked to join INRALS in 2014 by Jan Derks as the sole Irish representative. I really liked the values of the organisation and the ambition to be a significant global player in the life sciences market. This has proven to be the case and we have had some great collaborations with other members. We have built relationships and friendships and helped each other to further develop our businesses through active best practice reviews.

What advice could you give our clients when it comes to filling open vacancies during the Corona-Pandemic?

The past year has been extremely challenging from a personal and business perspective for everyone. We are not out of the woods yet and hope the vaccine roll-out and government stimulus packages will get the world back to some level of normality soon. Work life will never be the same with reduced air travel, flexible hours and home working being the norm. We have seen some pick up in the market as confidence returns and we encourage clients to continue to embrace the ethos of work life balance and to continue to use the many technology tools to streamline the recruitment processes.

What do you like most about your field of work?

For me, working with people (staff, clients and candidates) is what I enjoy. Whether it is coming up with new solutions, mentoring a new employee or helping a candidate to discover their true potential; this is what drives me to move forward. It is a great vote of confidence when you see a candidate or a colleague shine based upon some little piece of advice implanted on their journey.

What was the funniest thing that happened to you at work?

One of the funniest moments that I remember was in Belgium at a meeting of my fellow Apple colleagues at the time. The Dutch and Belgian colleagues were having a good old rant about the ineptitude of the Irish operation. After about ten minutes of this Dutch language tirade, an Irish colleague of mine responded in fluent Dutch and it was worth everything to see the looks on their faces!

Ken, we thank you for your time and these insights!

If you want to learn more about our inrals-partners, stay tuned!
